In some cases household appliances just need little adjustments to keep working properly. Advance Budget Repairs wants you to save money on unnecessary repairs. However, we want you to keep in mind that if the tips below don’t work for you, we are always ready to come to your rescue.
What should I do if my refrigerator is not cold enough or is not running?
- Turn the thermostat up one setting. After 24 hours confirm that the appliance is working properly
- Remove objects blocking the air flow around the outside of the refrigerator. There should be at least 3” of free space surrounding the appliance
- Make sure nothing is blocking the heat coming from the coils of your refrigerator. If the coils are on the rear of the appliance, make sure that there are several inches between the box and the wall. If the condenser coils are located underneath the box, clean the coils with a vacuum at least twice a year
My dishwasher is not getting my dishes clean. What do you recommend?
- Make sure the water is at least 140 degrees (very hot). If it is not hot enough turn up the water heater thermostat to a higher setting
- Check for objects obstructing the lower spray arm
- The bottom of the dishwasher should be clean and free of debris
- Use proper amount of detergent, and check its expiration date
- Follow the proper loading procedures
My washer is dead… Is there anything I can do before calling an expert?
- Check that the lid is closed properly
- Timers and controls should be set correctly
- Make sure both faucets are turned on
- If nothing changes give us a call
